About a week ago the cold water pressure in my kitchen tap all but disappeared. The flow is now very slow. The hot is fine and both the hot and cold in all other faucets in the house are fine as well. The kitchen tap is a "mixer type" (one handle for both the hot and cold combined). My first thought was the cartridge is shot. The set screw that holds the faucet lever in place broke off so that I could not remove the handle to get at the cartridge. OK so now my repair gets more expensive and I replaced the entire tap… I still have the same issue! My house is relatively new as it was built in 2006 and I have pex piping through out. I am hooked up to city water supply and am not on a well. I do not think there is a issue with scale or rust build up in the lines as pex is plastic. Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this issue? The only thing I can think of is that there is some type of blockage in the pipe below my kitchen sink. Does this make sense to anyone or has anyone heard of this issue before? If this is a blockage how would I go about clearing the pipe? I don’t want to start chopping pipes out and rep[lacing them if I can avoid it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Ray
Just to clarify… I have already replaced the entire faucet. The cold water is still doing the same thing that it did with the last faucet… very low pressure and far less flow than the hot water. I have tried disconnecting the cold water under the sink (at the under sink shut off valve) and letting this run into a pail. The pressure was weak at this point also. I was able to stop the flow with my thumb over the end of the pipe. I also tried leaving the cold water open at the tap and tapping on the waterline at every connection. Nothing has even remotely helped so far. If I don’t figure this out in the next few days I may need to resort to calling a plumber… does anyone know a reasonably priced plumber that covers Markham (north of Toronto)? I was thinking of cutting the waterline (after shutting off the main water of course) and hooking up a compressor but I was not too sure about this… I don’t want to make myself a Darwin candidate! Any ideas or thoughts on the matter a

need help with kitchen faucet please!?

i am trying to replace the cartridges in my dual lever kitchen sink to stop a drip. i went to the store with the old ones and got the correct replacements. now i got them in, but they must not be right because i can’t stop the water once i turn the supply back on! they handles move the correct way, but they don’t affect the water flow at all. i’m sure it’s something stupid i didn’t do right – but please help!

Question of plumbing and water hammer?

The faucet at the kitchen sink is a single lever type where you move it left or right to change temp and up and down for on/off. When using the hot water side it randomly goes to 1/2 pressure and there is a simultaneous water hammer bump from the back of the house. Is there a water blending valve in the faucet that may be going bad or should I look elsewhere? I have drained the water pipes througtout the house already by turning off the main valve and openning all the faucets in the house. I then closed all the faucets and turned the water back on. At that point I then turned on all of the faucets to bleed them. Make sense?

My water pressure is dying?!?

My water pressure was perfect a month ago. All of a sudden it just lost pressure. Over the course of the month, I have lost all water flowing through my kitchen sink and almost all my other faucets. My kitchen sink, with both levers turned completely open, only drips. My bathtub now, looks like my kitchen sink should. I have looked online and cleaned every aerator. None of these were solutions to the problem. WHAT HAPPENED?!? I’m clueless. I also drained my water heater. While there was sediment, after I finished, there seemed to be no difference.

How do I fix a leaky faucet?

It is my kitchen sink. There is a constant drip coming from the spout. It has just one lever that is pulled up to turn the faucet on… and then swiveled to adjust temperature. Here is a picture of the style. Mine is much older.

How do you install a new kitchen sink faucet?

My kitchen sink currently has a hot & a cold knob, and a spout…pretty old fashioned. I want to go and get an up to date faucet with a single lever valve and a detachable spout to rinse dishes, etc. but have never installed one before. What do I do?

How to pull out kitchen faucet lever?

Kitchen Tap Guide

Our guide will show you how to choose the perfect Tap for your kitchen sink. Today Im going to provide you with information on buying a kitchen tap. The following guide will answer many commonly asked tap questions, plus a few more you may not have thought of. Finishes Taps come in a variety of finishes, the most common being chrome. Silk Steel, Stainless Steel and Pewter finishes have a fine grain finish and offer an alternative for a contemporary kitchen. Most other finishes eg Gold and Bronze are self explanatory. We cannot advise on which finishes match each sink as this is personal preference. Water Pressure The majority of taps will work on the average British domestic water pressure. If you live in a low or high pressure area, there are taps designed for your water supply. Please check the specifications for further details. Water Pressure can be shown in three measurements – bar, psi or Head (in metres). In an unpressurised system, the water pressure is governed by the height of the storage tank (usually in the loft). The Head (in metres) can be calculated by measuring the vertical distance from the tank to the tap, not the length of the pipes between the two. You can easily calculate the head from this measurement and then convert to bar which is the most commonly used unit of measurement. The following formula is used to convert head to bar 1m = 0.1 bar eg 5m of head = 0.5 bar. Also 1 bar = 14.5 psi which may be the pressure given by your water company in a
